Ok ~ I know I need new eye glasses. For a few days I have been noticing something that looked like little black seeds in the chickens feed trough. Last p.m. I took a closer look.

O.M.G. (good grief !) It is mouse poo ! LOTS of mouse poo. I need to know PLEASE can I use "JUST ONE BITE" rat /mouse poison if I put it were the chickens can't reach it. ? I know it works, quickly, and very well. My concern is one of the chickens eating a dead mouse and then I have a sick or dead chicken. Or them draging a tiny piece out were a chicken can get it. I have also thought (don''t laugh) of running a hose from the tail pipe of my car into the entrance of the mouse house and gasing them. No pun intended.
Is there something else that would be better or safer ?
All replys welcome. THANK YOU !

If the mice are out during the day, the chickens will catch and eat them. Trouble is, they're usually out at night and the chickens can't get to them.
2 things I would do.
Pull up all the feed by dusk and bring indoors. There will probably still be enough debris to attract mice though.

Trap, trap, trap. I'd use two kinds. These are great and will catch multiples in one night.

Or you can google bucket mouse trap.

Another to keep out year round.

Try a catch and release trap if you want something humane to get rid of the mice. Though I don't really like the idea of them, glue traps apparently work well, stick them next to the feed bin and the mouse gets glued to it and dies. It's not a fun way to go though, old fashions snap mouse trap probably a better way to kill a mouse.
