I have 26 E's all of which will be 20 weeks in a couple of days. Most of them have just pink combs but a few have really red combs and faces. One of the ones that has a really red comb and face squats down when I touch her back. She also has been hanging out in the coop by the nesting boxes. Yesterday I went out and did the feed and water routine and threw them all some treats in the run. This pullet stayed in the coop and as I got up to the house with the waterer to fill it I heard some really loud BAWKS coming from the coop. I know it was her cause she was the only one in there and not out eating treats. So what do ya think? Is she going to lay soon?

Those are all very good signs that you're pullets are about to lay!

Yes please start laying soon! My husband is the one getting really antsy. Since I am a SAHM he is the one that stops to buy the food and since I have an allergic reaction to cold (I know it's weird) he does most of the feeding, watering and coop cleaning when it's really cold. I know that once they start laying he''ll see that all the work is worth it!

My EE got really red around her beak when she was ready to lay. Sounds like she's REALLY close.

Yup, she's getting ready. When I was waiting for my girls last year I was going crazy but Ameraucanas are notorious for late laying. I think one started laying (infrequently) at about 24 or 26 weeks in the fall. Now out of my 5 Ameraucana girls I get 2 eggs almost every day. That's pretty good for winter in my book! Anyway, it seemed like they were taunting me with their faces getting really red, then hanging out in the nest box, singing, but no eggs. Finally one day I went to grab the white banty eggs and

there's a slightly larger green egg there

Have fun and post when you get it!

It sounds like your EE will be laying any day now! The other EE's will follow not to long after. I have 5 EE's and get eggs a light pink to an olive green! My egg basket is very colorful. One of my EE's didn't lay until here in the last week, I was beginning to wonder about her since she is almost a year old now (May). Good luck!!
