Hi all, I'm a newb when it comes to raising chickens. I got my babies from a local pet store in West Palm Beach and was told that they are Ameraucana girls. After further research I believe they are EE's and I think I have a roo. Right now they are about 4 weeks old and I think Gracie is a male because of the tail feathers. Let me know what you think, I know it's a little soon to tell but I cannot stop wondering! The one I'm speaking of is the one in the back.

EEs - gender yet to be determined. Are you seeing one or three rows of peas in the combs?

ETA - neither is screaming cockerel yet - and at the age they are at the tail feathers would not be showing any sort of gender characteristic.

It's too early to be absolutely sure but I would expect to see more comb color by now if they were male. I got 2 cockerels in a batch of 6 sexed EE pullets and they had more color than that by 3 weeks.

Ok, that sort of puts my mind at ease. We are attached to them at this point and wouldn't be able to keep any roosters. Thanks :)

Generally EE's don't have wattles because of their beards. That said, Macie has a big comb for being 4 weeks old. No color though... Often those who are slow to feather tend to be roosters. I think it is a little early to tell gender. You are right though, more than likely they are Easter Eggers.

They all feathered in at the same rate, too. So that gives me hope that they are all females.
