EEs still not laying

Do EEs usually take so long to start laying? We got them on May 19th and were told they were about 2-3 weeks old at the time. That would make them about 19-20 weeks now. After reading so many threads I feel like my divas are taking forever! One (Ruby, my profile pic) has started hanging out in the nesting boxes so I feel she may lay at any time. They are fed Purina all flock feed. Do I need to switch to a layer feed? I think if we start having oyster and eggs shell available, along with grit, that they'll be fine. Could it also be because we are so far north and the temps are starting to really drop at night?

I know. So many questions. This is our very first flock and we impulse bought them  They were the last 4 at the Hardware/Feed store.

Thanks!

I wouldn't count on seeing eggs until October or November. And it is possible they will simply wait until spring. Daylight hours definitely affects laying. All flock with oyster shell on the side is fine.
I had an ee hatch around may 23rd last year and she didn't start laying until the following February :hmm
Oh My! I am trying so hard to be patient. I was thinking it wouldn't be until October, but thought to ask just in case. I think I might go crazy if we have to wait until Spring! 🤪

Yeah it can be pretty frustrating to feed a big fat bird for 8 months without seeing a single egg lol.
19/20 weeks would be pretty early. You're probably looking at more like 26/28 weeks. You're girls don't really look ready. Theyre combs will usually get larger and a deep red before they begin to lay. Your girls also look pretty large bodied and I find that bigger hens seem to take longer to mature. I joke that my late blooming ee only started laying eggs to make room for more feed.

But you might have 1 start earlier. So don't lose hope. But there is nothing wrong with them lol. They lay when they are good and ready and not a moment before.

WE GOT AN EGG! I’ll attach a pic of it in the nest when I download it from my Nikon.

Edit: Ruby was very proud of herself and made sure I knew she had left us something :)

such a pretty egg!!!!!!!!!!!! I was coming to say that my EE started laying around 20 weeks or so. She was born either 4/8 or 4/9 and I got my egg on Aug 29th. When I bought her I heard around 5-6 mo to lay. Then I read here and on a few other sites that many didn't lay till 9+ mo and was so sad I had to wait so long........ Then boom an egg! I was so excited! My Salmon Faverolles started to lay at 22 weeks which shocked me (a bit since she looked close to ready, but.......) I read 6-7 mo for them!
