I was too busy watching news of the floods here in Australia to log on at home this morning...wish I did now so I could see your photo. I can often see a small area of yellow in the egg when I candle at that stage- there is a small pocket just above the head that can cause this. The rest of the egg is dark as the duckling takes up so much room- but that one little area is clearer- and has a yellow look to it. I hope thats all it is with your little one. I have a few things going on over the next few days...but will certainly be coming on here to check on news on your little one when I can. Good luck... Come on duckie...you can do it... Stay strong little one.
Im having a hell of a time keeping my humidity stable at 80. Can it range at either side to say 75 to 85 or does it have to be 80 full stop. I have my water thingys full, I have a face cloth dipped into either water well using it as a wick and it keeps dropping to 70. I didnt have a spong, but I do now, stripped the sponge off a mini paint roller and put a bit of water in a container and the said sponge. We will give it a while to settle down then see what happens. Once I find a happy medium I will be happy
75 - 85 swing is ok.. Every time you open the bator to try to fix it you will loose humidity anyway. All I have done this time around in my IM is close the vent a little- 5 ducklings hatched ok last night and I have no idea what the humidty really is in there.
Just went and turned the other eggs and replaced the water...humidity is back up again, so hopefully I will be ok
Did you get any ducklings in the colour you wanted
Humidity swings are fine, as long as they don't drop too much. I don't even keep a hygrometer in there any more--I just raise the humidity until it begins to condense on the inside of the windows and hold it there. There are ways to add more water without opening the bator...

I got another white...so not what I wanted...
It just means one or more of my drakes is a dud. Rather annoying since I will have to do another round of tests to find out which of the two. I paid $100 for one of them - so will be most annoyed if its him. I am thinking it would be easier to try and replace both of them .
I have 4 other goodish one though - still like what I was hatching from my own birds, but time will tell.
Ok...so I can see the photo now I am home. It is different to what I first thought- But I can often see something like that also in my eggs just before they hatch. Its not the yolk broken thats for sure.
Well its 6.22am on the 13th. All I want him to do is pip so I know SOMETHING is gone on. I dont care if he sits there then for another week, I just want that little thing to pip
