egg blood spots

Lately ive had a few eggs with a blood spot on the yoke.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this?
my mixed flock seems to be in good health is this common.

When I googled this awhile back, what I found was that this happens with fertilized and non-fertilized eggs, and it is normal. There is nothing that can be done. I think I read one BYC'er say if I remember correctly that she thought it happened more with certain hens in her flock.

You might do a BYC search too to get more info.

I have seen blood spots in my eggs on occasion. I simply remove them before I cook the egg or whip the batter.

It's normal as far as I know, and the reason you don't see them in store bought eggs is because they have a candling machine that removes eggs with "issues" that make them not perfect. So we go along never seeing it until we get chickens and we learn all about what's normal and what isn't.

I just scramble them up and eat them.
