I would treat chickens with lash eggs with an antibiotic for a bacterial infection. We feed cuttle bone instead of calcium because it dissolves the mess quicker and for some reason doesn’t interfere with producing even more shell. If you have more with egg problems get to the vet and get antibacterial antibiotic and treat them. They can be saved if early enough. I am so sorry for your loss. Learn and carry on. Chickens tend to hide illness until its too late so watchful eyes are needed more. This is not your fault but rest assured this is very treatable for future problems.
