Hey y'all! Had a real bad egg bind today, she was too far gone by the time I got to her and hadn't been acting peculiar the previous day. I ended up having to cull her after working with her all day. When I plucked her she had bruising between her legs underneath her vent. When I cleaned her it looks like her uterus had ruptured. I've never seen anything like this! Everything inside seemed fine, except the ruptured uterus, just bruised underneath for no apparent reason. I didn't get any pictures of the bruise but I got a couple before I took her in to work on her. Any ideas?

I should also add that I have had her (along with six other Dominique girls) that were given to me severely underweight and dirty at approx 1.5 years old. They have all since gained weight in the two months I've had them but are still pretty small and lay soft eggs pretty regularly. I'm assuming the soft eggs are a result of being malnourished before coming to me because my existing flock lay GREAT with super strong shells, beautiful yolks, and regularly. The other factor here is that I have an 8 month old Wyandotte roo that I need to cull and just keep getting distracted. He is.... umm... a little *different*. He took 2 days from pip to hatch and he's just a lil crooked. His equilibrium is off and he walks crooked and holds his tail crooked... as a result he's sometimes a little rough with the girls but I don't think he could have done this?? Maybe I'm wrong?
