So I have a chicken that I noticed a few days ago was moving a little sluggish. She was acting overall normal, only a little slow. Today I went out to check on my hens while they were getting up in bed. And I opened the door just in time to see her attempt and fail to jump up on the roost. I went in and picked her up and noticed that she was pretty skinny, but she was super bloated around her hips. I figured she was egg-bound, although she is acting normal. She holds her tail high and she doesn't stand oddly at all. I gave her a warm bath with Epsom salt, and then took her out and dried her off a little. I massaged her around her hips and vent and she pooped just a little. Now her face is very red and her breathing seems slightly labored. She is definitely working to get the egg out and I gave her a little bit of electrolyte water through a dropper. I put a heater on her and put her in a kennel in the laundry room where it is darker. What else can I do? I need help, I don't know how long she has been egg-bound. She is still acting a little bit normal except she is very bright red in her face and she looks like she is trying to work the egg out.

Another thing about this hen, is she appears to have something going on with the bottom of one of her feet. My mother thinks it is bumblefoot. I haven't heard much about it though. What does it look like? What are the cures? Is it contagious?

Did you check her feet for bumble? bumble foot isn't contagious, it's an infected splinter or something like that. You're first concern is what sounds like waterbelly. Egg bound would have her tail down. Is her belly soft?

She is pretty stiff around her vent and waist. Her tail is drooping now but I'm not sure if that is because of the bath.

I was trying to feel between her legs but I'm not sure if I could feel an egg.
