But the egg is lower than the description given on this site. She matches all other characteristics except the egg isn't straight in, it is down low. I can feel it when massaging her abdomen. I have tried warm soak with epson twice and have force feed her about half of a tums. What else should I try?

Welcome To BYC

Is she able to poop?
Are you feeling an egg when you insert a finger into her vent (about 1") or does it feel like a mass in the abdomen?

If she is truly "Egg Bound" she won't be pooping, you will most likely feel an egg within 1" upon inserting a finger into the vent. The egg will block the passage of poop - this is life threatening - if you have a vet that can see her, it would be best.

Hens can have very similar symptoms of being egg bound if they have reproductive disorders like Egg Yolk Peritonitis, cancer, tumors, Salpingitis or Ascites. Usually these will be accompanied bloated/swelling of the abdomen, some people do report feeling something egg shaped when massaging the abdomen (there can be eggs in the abdomen with Peritonitis).

Do your best to keep her hydrated.

The first time I heard about this. Are you using special oil messaging your hen?
