Egg bound?? Laying double yolk eggs and no shell eggs

Hi, Peeps61. One of my EE's is almost 29 weeks and she hasn't laid yet. Her comb is not bright red and she acts a little odd. She doesn't see well. I can tell because when she tries to peck a treat out of my hand, she often misses it. Anyway, I don't know if she will ever lay, still hoping.

I have an Orphington that survived a dog attack. She didn't lay for a long time, but lays now. She doesn't see well out of one eye because of the dog attack, and will often cock her head in a weird way when looking at me through that eye. My rooster is a polish, so his feathers get in the way for him too.

Hopefully, your EE will lay soon for you!

Finally she started laying right after Christmas. She was about 44 weeks!
That is great to hear your Orpington survived a dog attack. Wouldn't have thought that possible.

Hi Evekelly,

44 weeks! Wow! She must have been a really late bloomer!
I don't think the Orphington would have survived, but we caught the dog in the act and called her off. She slunk away with her tail between her legs and we doctored the Orphington for about a week before she could take care of herself. She's happy as a clam in with the other hens now. In fact, she's the one by the gate when I come out to the coop - looking for her treats!
