gosh and your weather is changing & its fall in your area.?so its been darker in the day time.? im not sure, but less light and the change in food, may have started the signal in your hens reproductive system to stop laying all together, i have induced this condition in my hens on purpose to help heal them from the inside out, so stopping egg production helped them & only took 2 days at best, that is how you stop egg production, restrict light & lower nutrition, so no layer feed , restrect food to feeding something like scratch & not much of that either, then the hen will stop egg production. this process only took 2 days , both my hens were new Hampshire reds & were heavy layers & got egg bound in under a year old , with a prolapse, so i stopped it all and healed my hens with supplements that built up their insides, and gave the tissues more elasticity, they are both better then before & doing good. im wondering if this may have happened to your hen inadvertently..? i would up her protein, feed her cooked egg or some tuna mixed with oatmeal & some tuna water, also if you dont see her drinking give her tuna water keep her hydrated, and give a multi vitamin supplement,i give my hens my liquid multi vitamins every day & i add that into a mix of water & boiled eggs, with the shell on,& put it all into the blender , and add that mixture into their layer feed adding extra water until its like a oatmeal texture , they love it, you can add in vit e, c, and fish oil into your hens food , but one thing about calcium , id be careful restricting that and at this stage i would also give a good calcium supplement , its very important to keep all the mussels working well and will help cure any reproduction problems , so see if boosting her nutrition like that will help..? its worth a try and cant hurt her ,and toss in any fruits or veggies or meat cut up small from left overs. and give it day or so & see how that works for her . i find if i supply the best nutrition possible the animal will heal it self. im hoping all goes well for your hen..!and maybe a molt will help to reset it all. Thanks for asking, @Diannastarr! So far so good with my Goldie. She was back to her normal self by yesterday afternoon. I keep my flock on a non-colloidal silver supplement 4 out of 7 days a week so we are good there! I am still concerned though because she stopped laying altogether about 5-6 weeks ago, so there is definitely something wrong. Before she stopped laying most of her eggs were body checked eggs. I fear I may have brought this episode on myself because I recently switched their feed to half layer half flock raiser because she wasn't laying...scared she'd get too much calcium she didn't need since she isn't producing eggs. Don't know if its possible, but I'm hoping after she has her first molt next month something will reset or trigger her reproductive tract into laying again.
