My modern game bantam mix hasn’t been laying for a week or so. This isn’t unusual per se, given her breed, but she’s usually quite productive nonetheless (an egg every 2 days) so it did catch my attention. I looked her over and saw her vent looked really funny, as if she’d been picking the feathers away from it, and those around the edges were crusted with droppings... I felt it a bit and couldn’t feel any obvious blockage, but it definitely seemed to be bulging out a bit. She seems to be acting normal - eating, running around, passing droppings (this last thing made me think she probably wasn’t eggbound?) - but her vent has never looked like this before and I’m confused and concerned! Am I overreacting? Anyone seen anything like this before?

If you stick your finger in her vent can you feel an egg?
I didn't want to try since I knew it would stress her out and I was doubtful it was actually her being egg bound, since I saw her pass droppings - should I check regardless?
