Thürigian Bearded Bantam (Critically Endangered Breed)

I just came across this thread and have just picked up a pair this week from a breeder! I am in Ireland and got a marsbar pullet the week before and then got a pair of chamois Thüringian bantams after i was really happy with Martha the Marsbar a week after. They are currently in quarantine from my birds, partly because I don’t have an area for them any where else yet but seem nice and are very beautiful. The rooster maybe needs to warm up to me yet but the hen is sweet. I’ll post better pictures tomorrow of my 2. Interesting thread on them and I would love to know more, there is very little info on them online. Here is a quick pic of my guy Bruno, bad quality i know!

I think they are pretty cool from the 5 days I’ve had them!!! I think the person I got them from is one of 2 main breeders in Ireland and shows them at shows around the country with success. She has chamois, black and gold spangled as far as I’m aware. They are considered a rare breed here in the UK and Ireland and very few people have probably heard of them. Ask away or try message me on here and I’ll try and see if I know the answer

Bruno is moulting at the moment so losing some neck feathers and we were in the middle of a storm so got a bit wet before seeking refuge in the greenhouse🤣

I think the one these 2 came from would be the main one here, she doesn’t have pens upon pens of them but has a few breeding groups.
Wait... UK Ireland... or EU Ireland...
We are in Northern Ireland (the UK part) and I’m not sure where the other breeder is but think they are also in the north…
