Egg-bound or something worse? Advise please.

I’m so sorry that she passed. She sounded like she wasn’t doing well, so I am glad she is not suffering anymore.

No, I don’t think you caused any of this. Sometimes the mucus shows up when they pass away. I’m not sure why, but my hen had it, too.

The rest of your flock should be fine, but do check them over for yellow lesions in and around their beaks. Trich or wet fowl pox can cause that. To me it sounded like she had reproductive issues, though.
Thank you. I guess it's the possible respiratory issue I am concerned about with the rest of the girls. Being that she had the large swelling below her vent I wouldn't think it was Mareks or bird flu or anything like that, I'm just concerned for the other girls.

She just died :-( When I went to put the dropper with amoxocillin down her throat, she was drooling and had clear sticky mucus inside her mouth, and I saw 2 little yellow spots on her throat (breathing hole), none of that was there yesterday. When I put the dropper in her throat she seemed to seize a tiny bit, moved the wings a tiny bit then she was gone.

My big question is, do I worry about the rest of my flock? What do I do? Thanks.

Also, could I have caused the mucus by giving her the powdered calcium and amoxocillin with the dropper?
I'm sorry to hear she didn't make it.

It can be hard to know where the mucous and the yellow spots came from without further investigation. Since she was so lethargic, it may have just been fluids you saw after the fact, sometimes that happens.

She went fairly quickly, so it would be good, if possible, to refrigerate the body and have a necropsy performed so you get more information about the cause of death. This will hopefully give you some answers and alleviate your concern about the rest of your flock. You can find your lab below.

Alternatively, you can take a look yourself focusing on the abdomen and internal organs first to see if you find anything obvious. Take photos of what you see, and we'll try to help you.

Thank you. I'm not of sturdy enough constitution to cut her open myself...considering taking her for a necropsy, UC Davis not too far from me offers that.
UC Davis is supposed to be very good. If you decide to take the body to them, let us know what you find out, they will probably give you a preliminary report and a final.
