Egg bound

Any recommendations for dealing with possible egg binding. Hen has a red comb but has stayed in today and has a yellow mess under her

The easiest thing to do is to give her a luke warm epsom salt bath for about 20 minutes.

The problem here is that "yellow mess" under her. That may signal an egg has broken or infection has started.

If this hen is acting listless, nodding off, standing around with tail held low, I recommend starting her on an antibiotic.

If she's in the nest for protracted periods without producing an egg, I suggest a heating pad slipped under the nest material and turned to the lowest setting. It may relax her enough so she can get the egg out.
