I have a black sexlink hen that is a little over a year old. She lays eggs every day. I few days ago she stopped and she has since looked a little sickly, wabbling, separating herself, and has her tail down. I brought her in and felt inside her vent and i didnt feel an egg but rather a strand of something hard.i could only pull out a tiny piece of whatever it was. Is was located just inside the vent. She is also pooping out straight grass with a white mucus attached. Has anyone has a similar issue?

Have you been giving her some sort of calcium, such as Oyster shell? I know that a hen that is egg bound will look similar to what you describe and can have diarrhea as well. I had a guinea that had one instance of being egg bound. I soaked her in warm water and she eventually passed the egg. I made sure to give plenty of crushed oyster shell after that. It is possible that is what is going on with your hen as well. Here are a few good articles about it and how to treat it. Good luck!

Thank you! I just went and purchased oyster calcium pills and crushed them in her feed. I have been soaking her in warm epsom salt water as well as flushed her vent. I believe if she was egg bound, The egg has cracked inside of her. I uploaded a picture of her feces, it looks alot like my other hens. I found on the “chicken poop chart” that it can be due to hot weather and we are facing 98 degree weather in florida right now

Can you feel any shell inside? Can you see any yolk or any part of an egg coming out? Hopefully that is not the problem, but if it did break inside, you may need to have her seen by a vet if you can, as it can get infected. I would keep a close eye on her for the next little bit and take more action if needed. I hope she get better soon!

I hope she doesnt get worse, i dont have any poultry vets near by. I have a vet that will try, but has told me she knows nothing about chickens

It sounds like the main danger is infection, so in the worse case scenario, maybe the vet could give antibiotics if needed. There are many threads here on BYC and on the internet on which antibiotics to give for this condition, so that should not be hard to figure out. On a positive note, the fact that you don’t feel a shell may be a good thing. The guinea hen that I had that was egg bound finally passed a soft gelatinous egg, so hopefully your hen has something similar. Please post how she does.
