Egg bound?

Metacam requires a vet prescription, but since it is just an anti inflammatory there are substitutes that do not. To be clear I'm NOT recommending the original poster treat her duck for egg binding. I was simple telling my experience with it.
Oh I definitely did not think that! I was just trying to help OP find the calcium gluconate because I like to keep it on hand and letting them know that the Metacam was prescription so they didn't run to the store and start looking for it. Sorry if my comment above came across wrong! Sometimes I word things that sound right in my head, but don't end up coming out right😬

Thank you! Your comment was great, I was worried I had come across sounding more like I was recommending something rather than telling the story of my duck. I was in a bit of a hurry this afternoon trying to answer quickly before I left work! <3

Didn't seem to get this tag.

How is she doing? @HENSandMARED ?

I would also agree to start her on a calcium supplement such as calcium gluconate, citrate, or tums. It may also be good to add some electrolytes her water source, to keep her hydrated, which might be the most important thing when dealing with an egg-bound bird. Soaking her in Epsom salt water for a few minutes may prove useful as well.

You need an RX to get Metacam (meloxicam).
