Egg bound???

Quote: When the eggs are shell-less, from what I've read, it's actually painful. The calcium will work wonders. I've heard of people breaking the Tums apart and putting them down their throat. That just doesn't seem like it would go down well. That's why I crushed them with a little water and used a dropper. Made a HUGE difference in my hen

Oh, and tomorrow you could crush some more tums and mix in a little bit of yogurt. Then you don't have to hand feed it as much. But I would do the dropper first to make sure she gets what she needs

Tums are round, right? Too hard to give orally, give something like this instead:

Thank you guys so much!! You are really awesome. I could only find one tums in my entire house. 500mg- crushed it and gave in some warm oatmeal. She loved it. When I went out there I found a white membrane by her poop. She seems more like her normal self and actually perked up with the oatmeal. Ended up having to make the rest of the coop some plain oatmeal...they were uber jealous! Keeping my fingers crossed my one little pill helped. I will get some more tomorrow and put some into some plain yogurt. Would milk have enough calcium in it? kathy- how are the nature made calcium pills shaped? Like a long capsule?

I think I have an egg bound hen.
This thread has been very helpful!
Thanks!!! =)

It looks like I'm doing a warm bath and a rubber glove exam tomorrow. =o\

sorry this is late, but the best remedy i've found is feeding calcium. it not only helps with shells, but helps push egg out. The other stuff didn't work for me
