I have a barred plymouth rock hen who likes to stay in the nesting boxes or under the tree with the rest of the flock. Last night she slept in the nesting box instead of on the roosting bar. She poops out white and yellow liquid. She doesn't explore the rest of the yard like the rest of the flock. She just stays under the tree. I am beginning to wonder if she is egg bound but I didn't want to startle her by catching her if I wasn't sure. I need help from any of you out there who could possibly know what could be going on and how to help her.

I know this was a couple of weeks ago but something you could try if you ever run into this problem again is to let her "have a bath". I am not kidding. Fill up your bath tub or a bucket with warm water a put her in it. She will probably struggle for a couple of seconds but then she will settle down. This will relax her muscles and cause the egg to "pop out". Leaver in the bucket for about 30 minutes in a dark room. The dark will cause her to relax even more and she wont keep trying to lay the egg. It makes it easier for her muscles to relax. This doesn't always work so if it doesn't you should seek vet care to get it surgically removed.
I hope she is doing better now and I hope this doesn't happen again!
Good luck,
