Egg boxes

So sorry. Auto correct feature on phone put permafrost. I don't even know why that word is there. Anyway... The roosts inside the coop are low. Only an inch or two above floor. The whole coop is probably 4-5 feet long by 2-3 feet wide. 2 laying boxes. $150 at tractor supply.
You need to raise the roosts somehow.
How many birds?

The roosts in the prefab coops available at TSC are entirely undesirable as roosts to a chicken. I have a prefab unit I use as a grow out pen/isolation unit and I cannot stress enough how entirely ridiculous they are from a design standpoint as far as being marketed as appropriate housing for chickens (please note this is not directed *at* you, OP, it is more frustration OR you). Given the design of the type of unit you have the nest boxes are the most natural and desirable place for your birds to want to sleep. Stopping this is going to be pretty much impossible short of simply modifying the unit so you can drop a panel in front of the nest boxes every evening to prevent them from settling into them when they go in for the night.
That being said, if you have more than two birds it's time to start construction on a new coop anyway - so you can build the new one with more appropriate roosts and other interior features.
