Am I looking at yolk,or possibly a quitter.Few are clear I didn't candle all.I got frustrated.I have read watched videos studied images and I still don't know what I see.The one with a large dark mass has a air pocket or air cell. This is my first time ever doing this.I don't smell anything rotten and I have not found bumps or spots.Would images help someone to tell me what they see if I did possibly 2 or 3 today

Candle from the top of the egg in a dark room and get some good photos like the one below. Get someone to help if needed. Photos should be as close up as possible. An Iphone camera with the flash turned off works really well.View attachment 3053208
Probably my first mistake it was drilled in my head light thru the air cell end.But I do the light thru the tip not rhe bottom?I also am using a toilet paper roll to hold the egg?

Day 7
yes chicken 🥚
I am fixing to attempt to take a few pics .
I haven't attempted the Welsumer or Isa eggs as they are SOOO dark.
You can candle these dark eggs by using a light source on both ends. For example if you have a proper candler, use this on the top and then use an iPhone flashlight on the bottom. This definitely requires help and extra care not to drop the eggs!😊

Yes if you hold the egg upright and put the candler on top of the egg you are shining the light through the air cell end.😊
You can use a toilet paper roll on the bottom of the egg to hold it steady if you need to. I just hold them in my hand, but then I’ve been doing this for a while.
