I came across this article on Huffington-Post this morning. It gives a good explanation for the verbiage on commercial egg cartons; for example, what does "all natural" mean (absolutely nothing).

It is an interesting article. To me, the requirement for a free range label is a lot less restrictive than they imply. For a chicken house with thousands of chickens to be free range you just need a tiny space they could go outside if they wish. That could be a small fenced in concrete pad. To me, the legal requirement for free range is nothing like I envision.

I did notice one mistake in it. Organic does not mean they are vegetarian. It means they are not fed animal slaughter byproducts. There is a difference. You can see the actual requirements here.

I agree with you on that...free ranching isn't like that at my place!
