I did a search and was not able to find an answer. Actually it just confused me more. I have an Orpington and an Ameraucanas, the issue is I'm getting a brown egg and a tan egg everyday. Is there something wrong with my Ameraucanas?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You may have hatchery stock Americauna aka Easter Egger. If so they can lay any color egg under the sun, Brown, Blue, Green, Pink, etc. Pretty much the only way to know what you are getting with an Ameraucana is to order from a breeder.

Thanks for the info everyone. I was doing some research over the weekend and I do have an EE. She gives me an egg everyday so the color doesn't really matter. My wife was just a little sad to not have blue eggs :)

The majority of EEs lay green eggs. A few lay blue and rarely you get one from a hatchery that somehow missed the blue egg gene. It happens much more often when folks cross their EE with another breed of rooster and then sell those offspring as EEs.
