I was sitting here wondering about how genetics affect egg color. Like when you breed a white or blue egg layer to a brown egg layer what the offsprings eggs would look like? Or if you breed two brown egg layers but of different shades. Like if you bred a maran or welsummer to a production red or barred rock what shade of brown eggs would the offspring lay? Light brown like a production red or barred rock, or a dark shade like a welsummer or maran? Anyone know?

They can range in medium colored eggs but they will not be as dark as the purebred parent but will be darker than the productions.
