Egg color?

Ok thanks you guys! I will have to see if I get another one today. Also a question will what you feed them affect the egg color? As I have a garden and they have been getting alot of tomato's the last 3 days. Thanks for your help!

no, feeding doesnt effect the egg color..whatever you hens lay is what there color is....do not feed onions unless you want your eggs to taste like that....

I think that would be a GREAT tasting egg! In fact I may try it!

The reason I found this post is that I am curious about eggs changing color. I have a Black Sex -Link, who was my first layer. She began laying a medium brown egg and in a couple of weeks they became darker (almost chocolate) and most of them are double yolkers.

She is still laying double yolkers, but they are back to medium brown.

In her period of dark brown eggs, I was on the road and they didn't get many treats (Yogurt, Veggies, Scratch) and none of the ACV/Garlic mixture they are now getting in their water.

Will the change in diet affect color?

Help me here!

Ok earlier in this post I questioned the color of one egg...more of a bluish, purplish color...well here it is again today, and I saw who layed it!!!!

The Layer....she's the one...I was told she is a Splash Maran...then I also heard Splash Orp...

so what color is this egg???
