Egg development without male?

Hello everyone, I have an update. I took the egg away just in time. It was indeed bacteria filled. I took it away before it exploded.

Now my next question is, I just noticed my turkey is bald all the way down the area she had been laying on. Is that normal or no? If not how do I fix it? It’s winter is here, I don’t want her frozen.

It is common for hens to pluck their feathers to get skin contact with the eggs.

It is common for hens to pluck their feathers to get skin contact with the eggs.

Okay, that makes me feel a lot better. I was worried that bacteria egg was eating away at her feathers or something. Or she was super stressed about me taking away her eggs.
