Egg Eating Chicken and I am out of ideas

I like the first tip in this link:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/six-tips-on-breaking-your-egg-eater

Chickens respond very well to unpleasant things. One of my chickens discovered pecking the french door from the house to the backyard. She seemed to like the caulking around the windows on the doors. I have no idea why. The pecking was super annoying and of course my dogs weren't crazy about something "knocking at the door". I tried to shoo her away several times but she is evil (she really is) and kept coming back. Pretty soon other chickens were doing this as well. I have had them for over a year and this is a recent discovery on their part. One day I got so fed up, I filled a measuring cup with water and tossed the water at the evil hen. She baaaack baaaaaaaaaked loudly, fluttered away in a huff and I haven't had the problem since.
I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying it worked :)

I keep seeing to use hot sauce as a deterrent. However, I've read elsewhere that chickens dont have the receptors for heat and therefore are unaffected by things such as hot peppers. Just curious if anyone has first hand experience.

I went with the hot sauce route loaded with black pepper and had no luck. I had more than one egg eater and even started moving birds out to find out how many did this. But the roll out nesting box did it and it was only $10 or less. Now I don't even need it.

Quote:There is a place somewhere on here where someone built a rollout nest box and the eggs roll to the back of the nests, down and onto a sloped platform where they can be gathered from inside the coop. My rollout nest boxes roll to the outside of the coop. I'll see if I can find that other one for you. In the meantime, you can type, "Rollout nest boxes" up in the search box and a ton of ideas should come up.
