I have a hen that is pecking and eating the other hen's eggs. This is totally not working for me. She's an older Rhode Island Red. I do not know how old. I just got her about 10 days ago and all her back feathers were missing from the rooster she used to reside with.

So the feathers are growing back in, but she does not appear to be laying and now she is eating eggs.

Do I need to cull her? I will if I have to.

I have not had this issue before, thank goodness, but a chicken owning friend of mine has. She says when one starts you cant get them to stop and they have to be removed before the others learn to start eatting the eggs also. I know this is not great news but this is the only advice I have been given before. Maybe you can separate her for a bit and see if you can wean her off this nasty habit?

I am no expert but have read other posts on here about hens eating eggs possibly being a sign of them needing calcium or maybe even protein. Do you give your chickens oyster shell? If not, that may be something to try. Good luck!
