Reading to my girls! :)
Hi! So I have 6 Pullets, and yesterday we got 6 eggs! One of them even had a double shell! Bu today, I went to the nests, and found one, lone EE egg. :/ So at first I thought they were just being weird, but as I pulled the egg out my BR Penny came over and started pecking it. So my question is, is she an egg eater and what do I do about it?

Thank you!

Are you entererly sure she is eating eggs? Egg production can slump for several reasons. But this sounds pretty suspicious, so look for eggshells and egg residue in the nestboxes as a sure sign she's eating eggs.

Sounds suspicious. But, she might not have been pecking it to eat it. I take out eggs and my chickens demand to see them. And the more scoop them toward them then actual pecking it like they were eating it. Is she doing that or pecking at it like she wants to eat it?

This happened to me too sometimes. I do hand feed my chickens, so I think when they see me hold something they think it's food. It could also be curiosity.

I had an egg eating issue for a while, there was a lot of residue (yolk) in the nestbox. It was hard to miss. What do you have in your nestboxes? I had pine shavings and straw. The yolk sat right on top of the straw and shavings.

I use pine shavings and straw too. Today, her egg was pretty badly mangled. Another pullet was on it, but this egg wasn't crushed. And yesterday, about 10 seconds before I collected the eggs, I saw her poking her head into the nest...

And thanks, I'll check out that link!
