egg handling for hatching

I Tried That Once.... Had A Low Hatch And High Post Hatch Mortality On The Chicks.

Trying to figure out how on earth to keep my eggs at 50f to save them for the next hatch. Am getting 3 to 6 eggs a day from 9 hens and want to put in about 50 for my next hatch.

I had thought they should be laying better than that?

Might get a couple more hatches under my belt and then go looking for some eggs from good quality stock to hatch. You do get what you pay for and I didnt pay much for my birds.

They are sweet though but the one that bolts for the door to see what I have for snack time is going to get stepped on if it keeps it up

I experimented with a cooler and found the right amount of ice I could put in it to keep it around 55 degrees. I could change the ice out, turn the old eggs and add new eggs once a day, and had a pretty good hatch rate with chickens I never tried it with quail.

FEED THEM GAMEBIRD STARTER AND ONLY GAMEBIRD STARTER--- NO SNACKS OR TREATS..... ONCE THEY FINISH IMPOSING YOUR SENTANCE FOR BREAKING QUAIL LAW ( ANY CHANGES IN COTURNIX ENVIRONMENT IS A NO NO IN QUAIL LAW.... THE SENTANCE? BAD KEEPER! NO EGGS FOR YOU!) THEY WILL BE LITTLE EGG LAYING MACHINES.

COTURNIX ARE THE LOVERS OF PERPETUAL SAMENESS--- ANY CHANGES NO MATTER HOW SMALL OR INSIGNIFICANT WILL RESULT IN DECREASED OR CEASED EGG PRODUCTION.... DURING PEAK LAYING TIMES( OR IN MY CASE YEAR ROUND, IN FACT THEY GET IT FROM THE HATCHER TO THE GRAVE...) THESE QUAIL WILL PRODUCE BEST WITH 14-16 HRS OF CONTINUOUS LIGHT AND GAMEBIRD STARTER RATION. THE ONLY EXCEPTION FOR ME AT LEAST ( I LIVE IN A TROPICAL CLIMATE--- VERY HOT/HUMID,) WHEN THE BIRDS SHOW SIGNS OF HEAT STRESS I ADD VIT C TO THEIR WATER TWICE A WEEK WHICH HELPS THE HENS MAINTAIN EGG PRODUCTION NUMBERS DURING HEAT STRESS TIMES--- I DO NOT DO THIS UNTIL THEY CONSISTANTLY SHOW DECREASED LAYING RATES..... WHICH SHOULD BE ABOUT ANYTIME NOW...

Cant BELIEVE I got the wrong bag when I got their food. Worst part is I am SURE I paid for the gamebird food!
