Egg Hatched but cant find the chick

Alright, were there any blood veins visible? That would be a big indicator if it were fertile.

I checked all of the hens and there is nothing under them other than eggs.

I wish I would have kept the egg, but, no I am sorry, I do not have it anymore. Lord willing that this does not happen again. But, lord forbid if it does I will save the egg and take photos.

Yes, I looked very carefully and under every hen and throughout all of the coop. Nothing.

They're more than likely not eating the chick. Is there anywhere (any tiny little gap, even if you think it's too small) that the chick could have had access to? I've had them fall through holes the size of a milk jug cap

I thought that as well and looked throughout the entire coop. My husband has built this one VERY well and there are no gaps and nothing for them to get behind as well.

I agree, and I thank you for all of your kind help. This is a first in all of the years we have bred chickens so it baffled me. I am going to have to watch these little buggers much much more carefully.

We have had times when one of our eggs didn't develop fully, and there was mainly yolk, but a beak and an eye, so perhaps someone broke it and finished off what was left. But I could be wrong, we may just never know.
