Egg hatching 4 days early?

Yep all we're good think I had about an 80% hatch rate on that one, and no problems with the chic's.

When I got home I looked at the egg that my daughter said that was hatching and it is cracked but it dosn't look like it is trying to hatch it looks like it just burst open for some reason.

Is there a little triangle mark or crack or is it just cracked in a line? Cracked lengthwise or around the end? When chicks start to pip the egg will crack but there will be a central point where they hit the egg from the inside and usually a triangle shaped piece will come off there. Also they will zip around the end to push one end off and usually (hopefully) not try to go the length of the egg. If it doesn't look like a chick did it then look for anything oozing out of the egg. If there's gunk coming out of the crack you have a rotten egg. The incubator should smell pretty bad at that point though.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just had a batch start hatching 4 days early. I'm wondering if they started developing slightly while sitting on my kitchen counter? I was collecting eggs for about a week to get enough to start a batch in the incubator.

So far, seems like a normal hatch, with all the chicks looking normal and healthy.
