Hey all :)
So my buddy has a variety of birds at his house and he offered me guinea fowl eggs so gave me 23 eggs which i was happy with. So i got the eggs and i stuffed them under 3 broody hens. 15 days later i candled the eggs and 1 out of 23 eggs was fertile. So i was like ok they must be lacking in a Guinea cock but was happy i got atleast one fertile.

Now i candled the egg at day 23 and it already internal pipped? My question is: Why is it hatching so early? Do some keets just develop a lot faster than others?

Hatched guinea eggs in the past and all the eggs hatched at day 28

I had one chicken hen who always hatched all the guinea eggs I gave her on day 26. Another chicken who would hatch all the guinea eggs on day 28. In the incubator I have had the eggs hatch anywhere from day 25 to day 28.

Had geese hatch at day 25 so it's not all that strange to me but they hatch earlier usually if temps are too high.
Though a chicken wouldn't over heat eggs unless the temperature outside is hot which is not the case in Ireland. Not complaining since i prefer earlier hatches.

The hen that hatched her guinea eggs always on day 28 would spend a lot more time off of the nest than did the hen that always hatches her guinea eggs on day 26.
