We have 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 RI Reds, and they just began laying 3-5 days ago. Don't know whose eggs are whose yet, but one egg came out brown with a white halo on half of it, calcified (can't scrape it off), and in the middle of the white is a oval of brown (base color of the egg) peeking out at the top. What is this? Is there a problem?

Also, how many eggs should i be finding each day? And will they be upset if I take them away in front of them?

I think it's probably just a fluke thing since they are new layers, I wouldn't worry to much about it. They lay a variety of shades. Right now, I wouldn't expect to many eggs. But in a little while the will probably and egg a day, or an egg every other day. They don't care if you take there eggs.
