egg is stuck inside skin and is hanging on the hens bottom

If you use the kitchen sink sprayer to soak her bottom with water, and loosen up, and remove the poop it helps in two ways:

1) You don't have to soak her butt in the same water that poop is coming off into (or clean it with an already poo contaminated cloth), which in this case especially would be ideal since she has an injury that could become infected there. Like any wound, you will want to keep it as clean as possible to reduce the chance of infection.

2) You don't have to touch it with your own hands, and you reduce the chance of tugging and pulling at her wounded area causing her pain, and reducing the chance that you might open up an area that was healing. Plus, the water is set to a controlled temp, which doesn't get cold after a while, but continues to be warm and clean.

I would definitely call your vet and ask him/her the best way to clean her, and explain the situation. This is not a normal situation of pasted butt, so will require a little extra care.

With any of my animals that have a wound, I always dab it with a little bit of peroxide and clean water (mixed half and half) to an area when I am done cleaning it. It never hurts to add that extra precaution.

i know, thats what i'm saying. its not just a pasty butt ( idont guess). i have never seen one but this is different it seems to be intertwinded in the flesh and i dont want to cause any damage to her surgery parts. i dont think my hubby would go for her being in the kitchen sink i will see.

Keep hanging in there. I'm glad that Rosey is pooping some. Does her poop look normal, does there actually seem to be a smaller quantity of poop than you would expect? Fortunately you have a vet you can call tomorrow morning and you can report all the symptoms to find out what the vet thinks.

In the mean time, it comes down to a little trial and error to find a way to keep her vent as clear as possible. If you can find a little plastic container not much bigger than her and put a warm very wet rag at one end, then place her bum on it. Distract her with petting or what ever calming thing you can think of. Then gradually keep adding a bit more warm water when she is not looking. Maybe that will work. Its worth a try.

I also wonder if it would be helpful to feed her easily digestible nutrient rich foods at this time. Perhaps you could try her regular crumble mixed with some scrambled egg.

At least she like the hair dryer
