Egg Issue

Do you have a pen you could seperate her in Urban? I know you said your house is small because you only need a little space with three hens. OEGBLAdy had a good suggestion. I know I only have one seperation cage and its full up with a roo in solitary confinment for now. LOL

Those dog crates at walmart the wire ones make great temporary holding cages.
You could get one of those and you wouldn't have to build anything and they are good for when they are sick and need to be alone too

I have about 6 cages i have built with cage wire and J Clips in various sizes just for this. If you are going to have chickens you always need a backup cage.
You never know when one might get sick or injured and you don't want to be saying where am i going to put it

Sheesh I had one of those for my dog and got rid of it on craigslist prior to getting chickens... I have a plastic one. Would that work OK? I had shavings in the bottom of the dog crate for a girl that was in quarantine. I fear that in the same set up, she'd just happily set in the back corner.

I see many adjustments to the coop in my future for next spring. I just need to get through the winter and some other projects around the house before that though.

Oh yes, I am learning as I go also! I have put in a few notes on my "TO DO" list as well. I do have one quarentine house but I should have an extra or two. Add that to the list!
I dont see why the other crate wouldnt be good though. It is safe and all. I understand the almost too comfortable dilema though. I wish I could help but alas I am but a beginer myself. hehehe!

Sewin we all had to learn what we know and i'm still learning. Just be open to advice but always remember they are your chickens and how and what you chose to do is up to you.
Just because one person does something one way and you do it another doesn't mean your wrong. I believe in all being free to make the choices right for themselves

Thank you! I am learning! I have gotten some great advice from you all. I will keep that in mind. I am always concerned that I am doing things wrong. I do not want to be responsible for hurting one of my babies. I have found people who differ in opinion and both seem to make sense in their own situation. I hope that makes sense!
