I think it's important to remeber that "Cage Free" has not been strictly enforced & defined. They can say cage free, but it might not be the way it sounds. Are they still in cages or larger pens? Do they have access to the outdoors? Some operations give the hens acess to the outdoors, but crowd them quite a bit. Other operations actually use giant chicken arks and move them around pastures. Those are probably the ones that people think of when they think of free range, but not all of the free rage producers are really free range as we might think of it. It's important to do your research and use your consumer dollars wisely. There's nothing wrong with supporting the kind of business that reflects your values no matter what they may be. However, it takes a lot of research on the part of the individual to dig up the truth about products that we eat. And not just eggs. There are a lot of terms used in the food industry that sound like they mean something, but really don't. I think "natural" is one of them. If i'm not mistaken, that can be put on a product and has no enforced meaning so they can slap that on just about anything.
