The best layers in ideal conditions (warm temp. and good lighting) are White Leghorns. They regularly lay over 300 eggs per year in those conditions and the world's record is 370 eggs in 365 days by a White Leghorn. However, Leghorns are not docile birds and in areas with cold, dark winters (like Idaho), some of the heavier brown egg layers will out lay them. The best layers under those conditions are the hybrid layers (like Black and Red Sex Links). In my experience, the BSLs are a little more docile and lay a little better in cold, winter weather (in some cases reaching 300 + eggs per year). Another good, cold hardy, and very friendly and docile breed of chicken that lays lots of nice brown eggs are Black Australorps. I have had a couple of Australorp hens over the years reach 300 eggs in a year. A few others struggled to make 200 (it seems to depend on the particular strain you buy). 250 seems to be about average. I have purchased these various breeds as chicks by mail from Murray McMurray Hatchery (http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/index.html), Ideal Poultry (http://idealpoultry.com/), Cackle Hatchery (http://www.cacklehatchery.com/), and Dunlap Hatchery (https://www.dunlaphatchery.net/) and have been satisfied with all of them. Hope this helps.

I forgot to add that all of these birds lay large eggs.
