I'm only getting 1 egg a day from my 3 1-year-old chickens, and it's the end of May. One got broody on me, and I kept her from the nest for a couple of days. She snapped out of it, but isn't laying. And my barred rock might be molting, but it's not time to molt! I'm in N.W. Massachusetts. Any idea what's going on or what I can do about it? I was getting 2-3 eggs daily from the 3 birds. Thanks.

Sometimes chickens molt at odd times, so I wouldn't be surprised to find you have a chicken molting. And it may take the broody a bit to resume laying.

Chickens do molt at "odd" times. All but one of our flock molted during the "traditional" time of year during the fall but our lone RIR decided to wait it out and is doing her molting now.
