Hi. I am a new at this. I have 8 hens and one rooster. I have 7 nesting baskets at the moment. The weird thing is the hens are all laying in the same basket. Is this normal? I am getting 6-7 eggs on a regular basis. Every once in awhile there will be one of two eggs in another basket, but they mostly all lay in the same basket. It cracks me up. I'm having so much fun.

Yes, multiple hens laying in the same nesting box if perfectly normal. Hens like eggs collected in clusters so large numbers of them are ready to be sat on while they are all still viable.

I have 4 nesting boxes for the 8 girls in the main coop. They'll actually line up to wait for the "best" box instead of using one of the others. Don't ask me why one box is better than the others, even the "best" one changes from time to time. Silly birds!

That sounds just like my girls too. They all seem to like the same nest box!
