We just got six hens last Sunday. Four Rhode Island Reds and two Barb Rocks. They are somewhere between 6 and 8 months of age. I didn't want to do the chick thing. I did not expect any eggs for at least a week but much to my surprise we had one egg on the first day!! Then one on the second and one on the third and now nothing for the past two days. We let the "girls" out at about 6:15 am and they have full range of an enclosed run until about 8:45 when the retire for the evening. The coop has five nesting boxes and I have covered the floor with straw. I am feeding the pellets & scratch, clean water and all the scraps from the kitchen veggies. What more are my little ladies looking for?
I am open to suggestions and advise.
