Hi All,
I need some serious help. A well intentioned friend of mine got my chickens to lay eggs in a part of the yard that I didn't want them to. He was trying to follow their wants to maximize happiness. Unfortunately it is decreasing mine. So, now I need to get them to at least lay in the part of the yard that I am good with. I ideally would like them to lay in the coop. Right now they have gone from laying 5 - 6 eggs/day (6 chickens) to none in the last two days since I moved their nesting boxes. Any ideas, advice, ANYTHING!!
Thanks so much. :) Also...is this bad for them...to not lay eggs for a few days? Just wondering if they'd get backed up or anything. I know, sounds stupid, but I really don't know. Thanks for all your help.

Hi Judy,

it is pretty normal for a chicken to skip laying now and then from what I know.

When I wanted to "train" my chooks to lay in the nesting boxes...I would try to keep them in the run that is attached to the coop until they had produced the egg. Once they get the habit they will probably do just what you want. Give them a little time.

:O)

They also seem to follow each other, so put an egg where you want it, and confine them to the area. The others will likely pick the same spot.
