Egg Laying Strike

Hey everybody, you may know me from BYH as MiniGoatsRule. I joined BYC to ask about some chicken issues with my mixed flock of 6 hens. They haven't layed eggs in about a week or 2. All but maybe 1 of them are too young to have stopped laying... What's going on?

Maybe the are going to molt very soon or maybe its too cold

Anything change in the set up? Maybe a predator came by and frightened them? Did you change the feed?

We got rid of 4 chickens, but the strike was before that. As for predators, we have barn cats and a dog, but that's been ever since the chickens have been there

How old are these birds?
Are they free ranged?

Then maybe:
Free range birds sometimes need to be 'trained'(or re-trained) to lay in the coop nests, especially new layers. Leaving them locked in the coop for a week or so can help 'home' them to lay in the coop nests. Fake eggs/golf balls in the nests can help 'show' them were to lay. They can be confined to coop and maybe run 24/7 for a few days to a week, provided you have adequate space and ventilation, or confine them at least until mid to late afternoon. You help them create a new habit and they will usually stick with it. ..at least for a good while, then repeat as necessary.
