I do keep them in their coop until I'm home from work, then I let them out to cruise around my backyard/ property. I have checked every where thinking the same thing, that maybe they're laying somewhere else since I found their first nest but no luck. I will do the fake eggs in their nesting box and try that. Naughty chickens! They must be crossing their legs until they get some freedom in the afternoon! If you have a few spare minutes you might have to sit and observe where they disappear to in your yard when you let them out.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
