Hi everyone,

I have 3 dozen eggs in the fridge, and no idea what to do with them. I'm going to hard boil a dozen of them, but that still leaves me with two dozen. Anyone have any ideas on recipes to use up eggs? I've cooked some and fed them back to the girls, I've fed some to the dogs, but I'm in a serious surplus right now...it's a lovely problem to have, but still...

Put a sign outside your house - "Fresh Eggs for Sale". I guarantee you people will want them. You could probably charge $2 a dozen.

Boil a dozen and chop them up and feed them back to your hens. Good protein and calcium for them. I just did 2 doz+ yesterday with cooked rice and yogurt. They LOVE it.

The recipe forum has many great recipes with lots of ideas. You can also type in egg casserole or recipes online and you will find some fabulous recipes that you can prepare and freeze.

Do you have neighbors that would want them or co workers?

I wish I lived closer to you, I'd buy them. I still have no eggs from my girls and they are all within laying age.

Feeding them back the eggs is very very good for them. They need animal protein to be in the best shape possible. Feed them the shells and all mashed up. I mix mine with rice and yogurt. Good stuff!

Chickens are omnivours. They need meat. I give mine all the meat scraps from my kitchen. You will see a huge improvement in their feathers and production by giving them the eggs.

I give them yogurt 2-3 times a week and I give them canned cat food twice a week...I just didn't want to overdo the protein and throw everything out of whack or cause harm.

I'm off to the kitchen to cook me some eggs for my girls! Thanks!

Hi Joshua!

Nope, I won't throw them out, that's for sure. I have family to give them away to, but I've been so busy that I can't get to them (minimum drive is 30 minutes to the closest family member).

Thanks for the link on freezing...I might give that a try!
