egg pipped but not hatching

Very sorry about your ducks. Although we know these things happen, sometimes it still just kinda makes you breathe a little sadness. Wishing it hadn't, and feeling rather ... actually I don't really have a word for it. I know those of you who have experienced this know what I mean.

Glad incubation is over with! Way too stressful for me. Ended up with 9 out of 10. I now have way to many MG Bantams. 6 Brooded by red pyle 'Pearl', 3 brooded by red pyle 'Carla'. 19 Babies YIKES! By the way the Hen(BBR MG) that was attacked by the hawk is fully recovered.

I have currently got a chick who pipped a hole at 7.30 this morning and then a bit more of a crack at 11am, but since then has made no progress and it is now 6.30pm. I have been worrying like an expectant mother! I am pretty sure the humidity is fine so have not given into temptation to open the bator and add more water. It is cheeping about once every half an hour, so maybe it is just tired? I think I have decided not to help it tonight, but am worried it is going to die, but it seems the most popular advice is to just leave it. I think it is going to be a sleepless night! Will let you know how it goes to help others.

Yay my chick hatched at 9.30 tonight, meaning it was 14 hours after it pipped this morning, so there was no need to panic!
