Egg position and turning

Lay them on their sides, and turn and an odd number of times a day so they don't repeatedly lay on the same side and damage the yolk, I write X on one side and O on the other, I turn about three times a day, sometimes five. I turn on day one, just like the mother would do. If the air cells are funky because of shipment you may want to wait a few days before turning though.
Thank you for your advice! The incubator I have bought is so tiny that although it's supposedly fine for 7 eggs, I can only fit 5 duck eggs in, and that's with 3 point down, one at 45 angle and one on it's side. It's obviously made for the eggs to be point down as that's the only way you could fit 7 hen's eggs in it. So presumably that must work or they'd not be able to sell them(?). My plan is to turn each egg and also move it's position so that they all take it in turns to be on their side or point down. We'll see what's happening when I candle them next week!
