and they are right behind us, well it would take a good 60 seconds to walk there. And around here you can go to jail for killing an animal, but i was informed by the officer today that after so many calls from me thay can press charges and then I will ask that they put up a fence and the replacement of our veggies.

Thanks be to God, we get our milk free. Amen A bag of start & grow here ws 7.99. I also heard from where they are making this, BIOFUEL, that will run the cost of corn to a high and there goes the feed prices.

Goats are on our "wants" list but I don't have any fencing yet. We plan to get a milk goat and raise some meat goats. My "wants" list is huge, but all I have right now is a house plopped in the middle of 11 acres of field. Not a fence in sight. I almost have a chicken coop finished though LOL

Fence in 1 acre and you can raise a pair of goats with no problem. Make sure the milker has a companion so she will be content to live in her pasture and doesn't become mischevious and cause damage.

Its getting harder and harder to live the good life now. I had ordered my chickens so I can offset the feed price to the amount of eggs we get. I told my other half that we need to get a cows and he wants a goat. However, on our small lot, that is not really possible.

You can have a goat on 1 acre? I have been wanting one that means we could have one. We have 2 acres. I have been trying to explain to my mom and dad that it would be good to have fresh milk. My mom says goat milk tastes different. Is that true.

If you clean everything you use and cool the milk down ASAP when you milk you shouldn't be able to tell a difference.

It is like eggs really. You know how someone accustomed to grocery store eggs thinks fresh eggs taste more 'eggy'? Milk is the same. The stuff in the store is like white wash water. Even fresh cow milk will taste different to someone who has only been drinking commercial milk that has had the fat and cream removed. Fresh milk is thicker and much richer.

I am sorry we have hijacked this thread from eggs to goat milk.

As far as the price of things if you can have your own milk and eggs, meat and grow a rotating crop garden most of the year what else do you really need to buy?
