Egg prices

I hate to tell you this but I was only getting $1.50 a dozen. My hens are not laying right now and I had to go buy eggs in the store,

can you believe that. I makes me sick. They are selling them in the store for $1.75. I think when mine start laying again I will up my price to $2.00.

Here in Montana I'm getting $3 a dozen. They sell for $4.29 to $5.69 in the stores.

I've been getting $3.00 a dozen for my eggs here in the Gainesville, FL area for the last two years or so. Selling everything I can produce.

Relative to what the grocery stores are selling I'm the high mid-range.

I sell mine for $2.00 and that is cheap, but I am too lazy to change my sign.

But at our meat markets they go for about $5.00 a dz. for free range eggs.

I sell mine for 1.75 a dozen. It's not exactly a rich state here anyway.

I'm getting $3/dozen in a city of about 100,000/college/military. I will not take less since feed keeps going up; I feed them well so they produce well.

Today I traded a dozen of my small pullet eggs for 6 egg cartons...helping a girl out that was on FreeCycle...has 4 boys...many money problems. She may be getting my smalls eggs for awhile...I still get more than we can eat and I think she can use them better than most of my neighbors.

I love hearing about stuff like that. I'm selling mine for $3 a doz and sometimes have more they I can sell/use--could probably sell the others if I advertised, but production is erratic this time of year so I haven't bothered. Anyhow, I'm giving the extras as I have them to the county food bank, but I like the personal connection you have. It's a good feeling to help and even better when you know it's somone who truly needs it.​

I sell mine for $2 dozen.. When I first started I was just giving them away and a friend of a friend insisted he pay me. So I told him $2, an d he said, I paid the last person $1.25, so that's what I'll give you-- I haven't been back with my eggs. LOL
